Today was the team's last day of training before the World Youth Championship competition begins on Friday. Everyone got to sleep in a little later today. First on the day's agenda was going to the park for a "light cardio" session. This included soccer, Ultimate Frisbee and basketball for a couple of hours. After the team was finished at the park we returned to the dorm for lunch. The afternoon was free time for laundry, homework, movie watching and playing cards. Team meeting was earlier today followed by an early dinner. The team had access to The Boulder's Climbing Gym one last time before the comp from 7:00-10:00 this evening. The teams from Mexico and Australia were also climbing at the gym tonight, one busy climbing gym! Local gym members were observed watching all these teams climbing with a sheer look of awe. At the end of practice the staff had snacks of fruit, meat, cheese and crackers ready for our climbers. (These guys are starving after 3 hours of climbing) We arrived back to the dorm shortly after 10:30 with final bed check at 11:00. Each and everyone of our athletes have been so adaptable to the fluctuations in schedule the last few days. Claudiu assured all that the schedule will be back to final bed check at 10:00 p.m. tomorrow to make sure everyone is well rested for the comp.
Tomorrow is a rest day for the team. We will be shopping in the downtown harbor area. We will arrive at 10:30 and park in the parking lot next to the seaplane harbor terminal on Wharf St. Parents are welcome to meet/join us. Lunch will be from 2:00-3:30 at Barb's Fish and Chips located at Fisherman's Wharf (1 Dallas Rd Victoria, BC V8V 0B2). After lunch the team will return to the dorm for team meeting.
At 5:30 tomorrow there will be a parent meeting in the courtyard next to the gym. After the meeting parents are welcome to visit with their athletes and tour the dorm. Coaches have requested that all parents leave by 7:00 p.m.
Krista will have the competition t-shirts that parents ordered available for pickup. You will need to pay for the t-shirts you ordered at the time of pickup ($25 per shirt).
Looking forward to seeing all those coming to Victoria for the competition.
